The most productive form of procrastination can be the simple act of arranging your workspace. Environment is everything. Your workspace should be elevated, calming, inspiring even. Or just look at least presentable. I believe in functionality, but things should at least look cute too. Here are a few items I consider to be essential for the desk space:
A water bottle: Yes, everyone needs an emotional support water bottle. For me, I am still on the Stanley wave. Their 40 oz bottle keeps water chilled for days. Despite the size, it’s easy to lug around with the handle and screw-on cap. I am not leaping at every new Stanley drop, like this mob in Target a year ago. Please just keep it to the classics, I like their Rose Quartz or Seafoam shade. It’s cute and efficient.
Office Desk Organizer: For those in the corporate realm, there’s usually a default one of these provided. They are also typically, in my opinion, hideous. There are quite a few nice ones online like the one pictured above here. The leather lining on it is sleek and goes well with most desk spaces.
A good handcream: It’s hard to come by. You want one that’s lightweight, pleasant-smelling, and doesn’t make your keyboard greasy after applying. I recommend the Salt & Stone Hand Cream.
Colorful pens: These ones are actually black ink, but I like their colorful exterior. We unfortunately still live in a time where colleagues may be hostile to the sight of glitter pink-inked handwriting. It’s not a world I want to continue working in. Change can come, but only if you let it. These pens are my way of easing the concept of color into the corporate world.
There are of course many other things to pile on that desk of yours. Beautifying the workspace knows no bounds. This is only the beginning.
